The article analyzes the results of a qualitative case study that compiled the testimonies of 50 female academics (university professors and/or researchers) in the social sciences, about their experiences of labor insertion in Chile. The objective is to analyze their itineraries of entry in the productive sector after completing their undergraduate training, investigating the gender inequalities they faced. We will begin by situating the analytical framework used, discussing the notions of labor insertion and its gendered character in the Chilean academe. Then, we will present the methodology and sample profile of the study. Delving into the female stories, we will analyze the difficulties faced by women to enter their first jobs, the inequalities experienced in their different work niches, and the precariousness faced in academic positions. We conclude by synthetizing five conclusive axes of the study.
