The objective of this work is to study the relationship between the political and military within Montoneros, in order to understand the practices used to legitimize their armed actions. To this end, the main source, along with other public and confidential documents of the guerrilla group, was the twenty-five issues of Evita Montonera, the organization's official publication between 1974 and 1979. The hypothesis guiding this research suggests that Evita Montoneraexpressed a permanenttension between the political and the military, which depended on the political situation, party decisions, and ideological conceptions. Along these lines, the Maoist concept of people's war, and the relationship between man and weapon of the Vietnamese revolutionary Vo Nguyen Giap, allowed the magazine to unite or "glue" these elements of tension, which the guerrilla leadership struggled to control.
