This paper reconstructs a discussion between Social Representations Theory and British Discursive Psychology, pointing out their principal differences in focusing the problems studied. The aim of this work is to use the controversial of interpretation de Nudler to give philosophical meaning to such discussion by means of their common ground categories: focusing and refocusing. The analysis shows that this is a odd controversy, since it has been focused on the ontological and epistemological assumptions of both research programs. In this discussion, it has not been produced a deep refocusing as the result of the controversies. On the contrary, the controversies have led to an important reflexion in Social Representations Theory about various issues raised by Discursive Psychology.
