In the work of the Argentinian writer Sergio Bizzio we can distinguish a series of productions that discuss the relationship between literature and television. In this series, Era el cielo has a particular place: it is narrated in first person and, as the author, the narrator is a television scriptwriter. From that particularly position of the narrator between image and word, the novel questions the writing as a practice and the ways to provide literary value. To address the ways in which these questions arise, first, we analyze the writing practices that, through the character's life, Era el cielo puts in scene. Second, we introduce the controversy generated around this novel to observe how are disputed the definitions of the “desirable” future literature.
