Through the analysis of 529 surveys on the quantity and quality of daily purchases, the objective of the article is to explore the consumption practices of residents of the Municipality of La Matanza in 2023. Understanding that daily purchases are conditioned by income, tastes, customs, availability of goods, the political and economic context, the focus will be on purchases and different forms of access to food, making a distinction between the population that receives social policies and those that do not. In a context of increasing inflation, poverty and state intervention, which is deepening in Greater Buenos Aires and in La Matanza, the results highlight that both recipients and non-recipients show continuity in the cuts and reductions in their purchases, indebtedness, the receipt of products and feelings that exhibit the insufficiency of income and the “not enough” as a daily experience linked to food consumption.
