This study presents a System Dynamics model to analyze the management of Municipal Solid Waste in the city of Oberá, located in the province of Misiones, Argentina. The research is framed within the context of population growth, increasing waste generation, and the need to adopt sustainable strategies at the municipal level. The model was developed using data provided by the “Oberá Sustentable” program and other municipal departments during the years 2023–2024. Based on this information, a Forrester diagram was created using Vensim PLE v.10.3.2 software, and scenario simulations were conducted as part of a research initiative focused on decisionmaking processes in organizations. The model incorporates key variables such as generation, collection, recovery, recycling, and final disposal, and allows for the simulation of scenarios related to recycling through the year 2030. The results show that the implementation of recycling-oriented strategies could significantly reduce the volume of waste sent to the landfill, thereby contributing to cost savings, a lower carbon footprint, and improved sustainability.
