I intend to reflect on the ethnographic field work when it leads us to get acquainted with actors associated with violent practices. I analyze in these pages two situations that generated in me a deep fear when my interlocutors, members of a soccer gang, read some of my works. Their reception of my academic work raised a great dread in me of being assaulted. In view of the first devolutions I feared that a peremptory critic of my postulates would terminate the relationships that I had established in the field work and that my interlocutors’ wrath derived in physical aggression. I wonder why I supposed that the logical consequence of the criticism to my research arguments and the rupture of the established link between us were the violence. Afterwards, I will examine how the feelings of fear are built and how they relate to the common sense to which the researcher belongs as a member of the society
