Nowadays, computational tools are essential for teaching, they not only serve as instruments for future professionals but also generate a better understanding of what is being taught. This paper presents the experience, both of teachers and students, in the use of two air quality modeling software of different complexities, within the framework of the Chair of Atmospheric Pollution and Emission Control (3rd year) of the Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences of the National University of the South. The two tools provide information on the dispersion of pollutants in the atmosphere. Screen View (free software) was used in class hours due to its simplicity and accessibility, while AERMOD was used in a final degree project (TFC) due to its high complexity and cost. In this sense, it is highlighted that the first allowed a better understanding of the behavior of pollutants in the atmosphere emitted by fixed sources in a single 2-hour class. On the other hand, the use of AERMOD required approximately 16 hours of teaching for the development of the TFC, but obtaining greater precision and detail in the results, adjusted to the work that was carried out with linear sources.
