this paper attempts to expose some postal exchanges, rewritings and intertextualities between edgardo antonio Vigo (1928-1997 La Plata, argentina) and julien blaine (Marseille, France). these interactions, through their different communication channels, rebuild a dialogue that happened before the spread of mail art in the seventies. our hypothesis shows that cultural contacts between Vigo and blaine contributed to the exhibition of visual poetry as a transnational genre in argentina’s context. in this sense, exchanges with France were decisive for the publication of Vigo’s Mathematical Baroque Poems (ed. contexte, France, 1967), and for the continuity of the use of resources such as circularity, perforation, and the drawing expression.
