The purpose of this paper is to present the results of the research on the link between poverty and study expectations as an indicator of human development, made in the second district of the metropolitan area, Lomas de Zamora, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, during 2014. The methodology used was quantitativequalitative: the application of the social indicator of the UNDP (2010): "parent-child intergenerationality", questionnaire, graphs, tables and hermeneutics. The research concludes that there is an inverse relationship between poverty and aspirations of study for children by parents: "To greater poverty, lower expectations" in the investigated area, and, considering the amount of people involved in our research, the results are generalizable to Buenos Aires and southern outskirts.
