Good Radiopharmaceutical Manufacturing and Control Practices require that the starting materials for the manufacture of radiopharmaceuticals products, including cold reagent kits for the preparation of 99mTc radiopharmaceuticals products, be controlled to verify their quality. For this verification, appropriate reference standards must be used as a basic requirement for the manufacture of the medicine. So, Reference Standards are a fundamental element to ensure the quality of the active pharmaceutical ingredient that are used in the manufacture of the radiopharmaceutical product. The information gathered and the bibliographic search carried out made it possible to generate guidelines and then develop the Medronic Acid Standard with the aim of achieving a positive impact on good control practices due to the availability of this Reference Standard at the national level.
