This article makes a proposal to redefine the concept of “political regime” in order to apply it to the study of the "democratic transition" in Argentina. In the first place, we show the need to disambiguate this term, based on a review of its regular use and its confusion with other concepts of political sociology and political science. Then the article proposes a reworking of the term, articulating it with three Gramscian concepts: "hegemony", “relations of force” and "passive revolution". This development allows a fundamental reelaboration of the analysis of the so-called democratic transition, understood in this proposal as a specific form of passive revolution, that is, an attempt to reform the political regime framed in a context of global and local crisis.
