In May 1962 Juan Perón announced the need for a “turn to the left” in Peronism. The moment was key, just over a month had passed since Andrés Framini triumphed in the Buenos Aires gubernatorial elections, which were later annulled, and sealed the final fate of the government of Arturo Frondizi, dismissed by the Armed Forces. Perón's phrase, with no details behind it, unleashed a barrage of conjectures and confrontations among the most diverse interpreters of the exiled leader's words. Two of the most important Peronist union leaders, Augusto Vandor and Framini himself, were at the center of speculations, negotiations and confrontations to give meaning to Perón's announcement. This article aims to recover Perón's “turn to the left”, and its impact between March and July 1962, when Huerta Grande's plenary session seemed to confirm the combative tone for Peronism. To this end, we addressed the trajectories and discourse of Vandor and Framini. We propose to analyze the literature that adress the “turn to the left”, and some aspects of the dynamics of the networks and local leaderships of Peronism, and their dialogue with the leadership of Juan Perón.
