This article discusses the situation of Latin America and the Caribbean, given the liberalconservative bias observed in several new governments in the region, which appears to reverse the “left turn” of previous years. From a political economic perspective, it sets out to understand the changes in the region based on three elements: the global disorder expressed since the outbreak of the crisis in 2008, the socio-economic structural continuities that condition political changes and the complexity of political processes that exceeds the representation of governments. These elements question the idea of a pendulum between progressive and conservative governments in the region.
