The cultural hegemony of postmodern linguistics, consummated in the queer imaginary and transgender performances, interpreted the ontological “essence” of woman as a normative social representation, the effect of secret imperialist and colonial power structures. Thus, this social constructivism then proceeded to replace an essentialist, eternal, and immutable representation with another contingent social representation, whose content coincides with what each social individual imagines. This article aims to show the fallacies of the postmodern anti-essentialist narrative, which, lacking ontological robustness, ended up essentializing the most sexist and discriminatory cultural representations. Our critique will adopt some general principles of the new ontological realisms, which have warned about the covert metaphysical foundationalism of postmodern fictions, and their authoritarian and dogmatic outcome.
