This article aims to analyze the strategies through which the BCM built connections with the cultural and artistic scene of Mendoza, focusing on the case study of the open competitions for the cover illustrations of Oeste. Conceived as the institution’s house organ, the covers became a platform for visual communication, reflecting an openness to artistic and design avant-gardes within a transforming provincial context. The analysis highlights the intersections between institutional patronage, cultural production, and the visual language of the avant-garde, challenging the boundaries between art, design, and communication.
