The research analyzes the mechanisms of state planning during the first Peronism in La Rioja (Argentina). It is remarkable that this political experience entailed a reformulation of the State-society relationship, which influenced not only the transformation of the State but also the expansion of social well-being. In this direction, studies on the first Peronism located in La Rioja have placed special emphasis on its early years, without delving into topics such as state planning. Thus, it is intended to characterize the state planning mechanisms during the Peronist years, within the framework of the implementation of the Economic Activation Plan in the province during the years 1949-1952. Based on the case study strategy, a documentary analysis of the Economic Activation Plan is carried out, as well as various notes from the Riojan written press of the time. The research observes both the mechanisms of public decision-making by the provincial government as well as the main social conflicts addressed, referring to the field of public water works, colonization and mining. In this framework, it is concluded that the provincial State articulated state planning mechanisms based on intergovernmental relations with the national government. Likewise, it is observed that the role of the State in promoting certain social conflicts, significant for Riojan society, to boost the provincial economy, as well as to expand social well-being in terms of social rights.
