Hunger as a sociopolitical problem on a national scale is more than 100 years old. Although the State has tried to intervene since the beginning of the 20th century, it is the women of neighborhood community kitchens who answer it in the territories. During the COVID-19 pandemic, state policies were not enough to address collective hunger, but those of the present time are much further behind. In a scenario of deepening and more complex nature of the food problem, where the National State is absent and the Municipal State only partially addresses it, a key actor appears that is gaining more legitimacy: the Food Bank. The objective of this work seeks to dismantle the ideological operation of this actor. The analytical approach tries to go against the grain of the Food Banks' proposal of “following the food” (waste on plates of food) to “following the money” (generated by discarded food) and “following the hands” (which search for, cook and serve it). To do this, we put two records into tension: a) the information from their website (https://bancodealimentoscba.org.ar/) but fundamentally from the Second Conversation for a Country Without Hunger, Strategies to Achieve Food Security in Córdoba; b) the voices of women referents of community kitchens/picnic areas in the city of Córdoba gathered from the three workshops held during 2024 (n: 60 women).
