Our article covers the history of an Argentine family business that was led by women for more than half a century, from 1910 to 1966. The analysis focuses on the Salas-Cobo family, which was involved in livestock production, particularly cattle farming in the provinces of Córdoba and Buenos Aires, areas that make up the Pampas region. We believe that the case study presented here is relevant because it highlights the changes that took place in the management of this productive unit at different times, some involving a decline and others a rebound in primary activity. To this end, it was essential to use a body of documents consisting of succession trials, accounting records and land registry records. Finally, periodisation allows us to explore and compare life trajectories that unfolded in contexts in which social mandates underwent various transformations, leading to a greater predominance of women in the public sphere.
