Resumen
Absence status epilepticus (ASE) is a prolonged generalized absence seizure lasting for hours or days characterized by altered consciousness while the patient may be alert and partly responsive. ASE may occur in patients with idiopathic genetic generalized epilepsy but may also appear de novo as an initial manifestation both in adults and children.
