¿Qué pensás hacer cuando termines la escuela secundaria?: Relatos de estudiantes en tiempos de incertidumbre laboral en Caleta Olivia (Santa Cruz)

Abstract

En un escenario socio laboral de inestabilidad y fluctuación en función de unamatriz productiva asociada históricamente a la extracción de petróleo, se proponecaracterizar las miradas que tienen los y las estudiantes de escuelas secundariaspúblicas de la localidad de Caleta Olivia (Santa Cruz) sobre su futuro laboral.Ello atendiendo a las condiciones de vulnerabilidad social de sus hogares, lascaracterísticas socio-urbanas de emplazamiento de las instituciones así como tambiénla modalidad de sus orientaciones formativas (técnica o bachillerato). Se trabaja condatos4 obtenidos de encuestas implementadas en 2018 a 487 estudiantes de primero,tercero y último año del nivel, así como entrevistas en profundidad realizadas entre2019 y 2020 a 24 estudiantes de último y anteúltimo año. Los resultados refieren aque los y las jóvenes expresan voluntades de continuar estudios superiores más alláde las condiciones sociales de sus hogares, así como intenciones de trabajar o buscartrabajo. Las diferenciaciones más acentuadas se producen sobre sus expresionesde seguridad y/o prudencia en relación a la actividad de trabajar en sus perspectivasa futuro según la orientación formativa de sus escuelas y el vínculo que cada unatiene con la matriz productiva de la región.

Consdering the unstable and fluctuating socio-labor scenario based on a productive matrix historically associated with oil extraction, we proposed to characterize the outlook that public secondary school students of Caleta Olivia (Santa Cruz) have on their laboral future. This taking into account the conditions of social vulnerability of their homes, the socio-urban characteristics of the location of the institutions as well as the modality of their training orientations (technical or bachelor studies). It works with data obtained from surveys implemented in 2018 with 487 students in the first, third and last year of the secondary school, as well as in-depth interviews carried out between 2019 and 2020 with 24 students in the anteultimate and last year. The results refer to the fact that young people express willingness to continue higher education beyond the social conditions of their homes, as well as intentions to work or search work. The most accentuated differentiations occur on their expressions of security and / or prudence about the activity of working on their future prospects according to the educational orientation of their schools and the link that each one has with the productive matrix of the region.
