Las flores demasiado rojas: Écfrasis de paisajes en Wide Sargasso Sea de Jean Rhys

Abstract

Para comenzar este estudio cabe recordar que, si bien la naturaleza existió siempre, no sucede lo mismo con el paisaje. Paul Cézanne escribió una vez que los campesinos de Aix "no veían" la montaña de Sainte-Victorie. Desde una perspectiva óptica, sí podían verla, a lo que se refería era a que no la apreciaban como "paisaje". Este concepto refiere a una determinada forma de ver la naturaleza, de apreciarla estéticamente, y que implica una determinada relación entre la subjetividad y el medio natural.

To begin this study it is worth remembering that, although nature always existed, the same does not happen with the landscape. Paul Cézanne once wrote that the peasants of Aix "did not see" the mountain of Sainte-Victorie. From an optical perspective, they could see it, what he meant was that they did not appreciate it as "landscape." This concept refers to a certain way of seeing nature, to appreciate it aesthetically, and that implies a certain relationship between subjectivity and the natural environment.
