The present work seeks to analyze the uses and representations of the public space of the city of La Plata, capital of the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, by workers in the popular economy during the irruption of the COVID-19 virus during 2020. This led to a transformation in habits and urban daily life, crossed by mediations with the different scales of the State and the local graphic press. The methodological strategy implies a qualitative approach based on the analysis of information from different sources: interviews with qualified informants, analysis and systematization of local press news, and national and municipal government decrees associated with COVID-19. The results indicate that the measures implemented to alleviate the proliferation of the virus led to a disarticulation of daily uses —productive and reproductive— in the urban space, conditioning labor activity —intrinsic to the dynamics of population circulation— mainly of those that use the public space as a work space. In this sense, various uses and representations in the space were built by the actors through the accumulation of experiences and the condition of belonging to each social group.
