The aim of this study is to reconstruct a series of speeches from the catholic field against the working conflicts in the Argentina of the 60s‘. We analyze especially the looks of the magazines Criterio and CIAS to the Plan of Fight of the CGT of 1964. The panorama that we reconstruct includes also a crucial figure of the catholic hierarchy as Antonio Caggiano, Archbishop of Buenos Aires, and other actors who questioned the sense of his interventions. We think that the diversity of discourses that emerged in that conjuncture, the tensions between them and Caggiano’s incapability to arrange them, despite his calls for maintaining discipline, constitute symptoms of an intensive process of internal secularization that lived the Argentina Church and that should be understood as a decrease of the religious authority in the context of a secularized society (Zanca, 2008: 2-3). Our analysis draws on reports, publishing notes and comments of current importance published in the analyzed magazines, accompanied by newspapers, documents, homilies and pastoral letters.
