The developed investigations during the last five years in the Sierra de El Alto-Ancasti, Catamarca, have allowed a better knowledge of human populations who occupied these lands. In this sense, the recovered faunal information from the excavations of the site of El Taco 19 (ET19), showed the camelid’s importance in these settings and its linkage with the occupation and transformation periods of this domestic unit. Until know the preliminary analysis show some relevant taxonomic diversity for the knowledge of the different practices which were originated around the strategies in order to obtain specific resources, such as meat, wool, bone material for manufacturing artifacts, etc. However, new data and the expanding of excavations allow us to make progress in deepening on these practices, as well as the link-up of these with the developed activities in ET19. Particularly, we refer to the information about the differential uses of the intra-site spaces, as well as about the skeletal part’s treatment. We are especially interested in assess the relevance of the identified taxa, chiefly about the use of different camelid species.
