This paper begins by considering the idea of ‘mestizo’, from its genesis, refers to a labile reference that is forming a place of enunciation ontologically unstable, with the coexistence of at least two universes of meaning without being reduced to one another, and as an epiphenomenon of the western expansion of America, is part of what Mignolo calls “colonial semiosis”. The idea of ‘mestizo’ moves as well, from a biocentric perspective towards a situational perspective enrolling the subject/body in the limited locus that feat. Addressing the idea of ‘mestizo’ from their place of enunciation allows replenish the implied social, political and cultural context, and grasp it, not as a thing of the past but as an unfinished process, which begins with the arrival of Spanish and Portuguese America, and that this shows a remarkable activity. In this sense it is possible to frame a dialogue between different phenomena in appearance: the artistic collective of ‘urban Mapuche’, the production of Guillermo Gómez-Peña, a ‘chicano’ in San Francisco, the Argentina of Ruy Díaz de Guzmán, and Vigilia del Almirante Augusto Roa Bastos.
