By surveying the surface record of the geomorphological sectors of an area within the Salinas Grandes basin (mountain ranges, foothills, and depression), we identified sites, concentrations, and isolated finds. We observed a greater accumulation of materials around sites on the edges of seasonal lagoons, which are located in the transition zone between the foothills and the depression. We also found sites in the mountain range area. We discuss the chronology based on diagnostic artifacts, which suggest human habitation since at least the Early Holocene. The diversity of retouched edge artifacts, flakes, cores, and projectile points indicates diverse practices, such as hunting, resource processing, rock procurement, and earlystage toolmaking. From these social practices of daily life, past populations would have articulated the different geomorphological sectors, giving rise to a territory, understood as the space in which their way of life develops, a fundamental aspect for their identity and for their persistence through time.
