In this paper we will deal with the transformations linked to the fishing sector in Puerto Quequén from the 70s to 2012. The capitalist restructuring that frames the stage addressed generated significant changes compared to previous periods. These will be conceptualized in comparison with what happened in the port of Mar del Plata during the same period, fishing port par excellence located a hundred kilometers from Puerto Quequén (Necochea). The sources consulted included official documents, the press and also union, workers and community memories. Its diversity was based scarcity and dispersion of systematized information about this topic. The results obtained allowed us to conceptualize the local transformations of both the extractive and industrial sectors how products of a reordering and port reconfiguration typicals of the current imperialist stage, showing a link between the structural determinations and the national fisheries policy.
