After the transfer of an authoritarian moment at a democratic moment, the South American political institutions have been adjusted to two anti-republican democratic conceptions. On the one hand, populist democratic governments have been implemented which have subjugated the value of political legitimacy. On the other, libertarian democratic regimes were adopted that vilified the value of social justice. Both types of government have alternated cyclically, evidencing an apparent though pressing democratic paradox, given rise to an impolitical moment. In response to this contemporary scenario, we propose the adoption in South America of a republican deliberative democratic conception, as a superior perspective.
