In 2017, a period of profound transformation began in the democratic struggles for the right to free and legal abortion in Argentina. Between March and August 2018, a series of nationwide demonstrations were held in support of legislative initiatives for the Voluntary Interruption of Pregnancy Law (IVE). Those in the streets recovered the feminist slogan of the 1960s, “My body is mine,” to reclaim the right to abortion. With this renewed impetus, the slogan became capable of articulating a new set of demands for bodily sovereignty, many of which were translated into political art.
