The notion of experience has gained a prominent place in discussions of contemporary thought. The echo of this discussion seems to have reached in recent years, the field of educational research and teacher education. French Research areas such as sociology of experience, among others, as well as Hispanic work with influence in Argentina, focused on the relationship between narrative, teaching education and teacher work, have found the notion a cornerstone for their approach. This article aims to clarify certain aspects of these lines of work in order to outline the conceptualization of experience they propose and clarify the questions and problems they seek to answer from each of their frames. In turn, it suggests some questions related to the epistemological challenges that working with the notion of experience means in the field of research interested in understanding the dimensions of teacher work and education.
