This paper presents the problem, methodological aspects, and initial results of the research project “The Right to Participation in Secondary Schools in the Municipality of José C. Paz from the Perspective of Students”, carried out within the framework of the Fifth Call for Scientific and Technological Research Projects at UNPAZ 2023–2025. The project proposes a qualitative, exploratory study aimed at constructing notions of the right to participation as understood by adolescents attending secondary school. The central research question we aim to answer is: What are secondary school students’ ideas about their right to participation? The sample will be non-probabilistic and quotabased, composed of 40 participants (aged 11 to 18) attending the schools where observations will take place. Quotas will include 10 participants from each of the 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 6th years of secondary school, with a distribution of 50% self-identified as male and 50% self-identified as female. At the same time, participant observations of school life are being conducted. Finally, the aim is to articulate the empirical data emerging from both methodological strategies in order to study the construction of knowledge about the right to participation as situated in school practices.
