Abstract

Relationships between people are mediated by situations that can strengthen or weaken the interpersonal bond. There are innumerable reasons that can affect or interrupt the link with the other, among them we can mention the transit through the different evolutionary stages. In adolescence tort situations are very frequent and one of the options in front of them is to forgive, a capacity that has been studied since Positive Psychology as a powerful resource to reestablish the physical and mental well-being of people. Some authors consider forgiveness as a complex process, involving cognitive, affective, behavioral, motivational and interpersonal functions, but one of the obstacles in the research on this construct is to achieve an operational definition of forgiveness. In this study the objectives were 1) to determine what situations are perceived by adolescents as serious offenses and 2) to characterize how adolescents define forgiveness. We worked with a sample of adolescents of both sexes, from secondary schools in Paraná (Entre Ríos - Argentina). We will present the theoretical foundations of the study and the results obtained from the analysis of content made in the definitions given by adolescents.
