The objective of this research is to contribute to the empirical study of the relationships between the variables political ideology and prejudice. To achieve this objective, prejudice was analyzed, based on the Affective Qualifications thermometer towards Social Groups; the operative political ideology, with the Political Ideology Scale, and the self-perceived political orientation, through an ad hoc questionnaire. the study was carried out in a sample of 200 subjects from Greater Buenos Aires (M = 30.92; SD = 11.41). The results show the presence of correlations between those of operative, self-perceived political ideology and prejudice, being conservative subjects who present higher levels of prejudice towards social groups, while on the other hand, the higher the level of progressivism, the lower is the level of prejudice. these results can find an explanation in relation to the differentiated characteristics that underlie political ideologies, which motivate a certain way of seeing and proceeding in the world. In this case, it is the conservative ideologies that tend to be more prejudicial towards social groups that threaten the hegemonic ways of life instituted by the dominant groups, which they claim to uphold.
