This article attempts a comparative analysis between two novels that aboard the same topic, the exile during the latest dictatorships in South America: Respiración artificial by Ricardo Piglia and El Fiscal by Augusto Roa Bastos. We establish this relationship not only because of the topic in common, but both authors inquire the exile in order to build a wider vision of History. Because of that, both novels remark tragic recurrences in Paraguayan History as Argentinian History. We do not considerate that comparative studies are useful just for stating correspondences or influences, but they can help us to understand similar phenomena that affect Latin-American Literature and that are used to be studied fragmentarily. Consequently some processes remain ignored by the rest of the continent, as this case, the exile in Paraguayan Literature.
