This article analyses the strategies outlined by the United Workers Union of Telephone Service (SUTAT) in order to represent in unions workers in call centres (CC) located in the city of Mar del Plata, between 2009 and 2014. The theoretical references used refer to the approach of the strategic options, which resorts to so-called theories of strategic analysis within the disciplinary field of studies in labour relations. As a methodological tool, we used the case study. Primary data collected through semi-structured interviews were complemented by the analysis of secondary sources of information. Finally, it is shown that the formation of SUTAT represents an advance over the formation of a single union with national coverage, since it encourages the signing of a sectoral collective agreement with homogeneous conditions of work. Such a situation would limit the relocation of businesses to sites that offer lower costs and greater labour flexibility.
