Music Therapy presents great heterogeneity in terms of development worldwide. There are countries with undergraduate training, others only with postgraduate degrees and many without any university degree in Music Therapy. The practices and publications of Music Therapy applied to the field of neurorehabilitation are gradually increasing. This growth reveals a complexity crossed by different axes. One of them is that the knowledge required by each music therapist is different depending on where they practice. Another is that this knowledge is not always acquired in university training for music therapists. On the other hand, the most widely disseminated knowledge is not always suitable for local application. And not all regions build the situated knowledge required to satisfy their needs. Furthermore, in diverse places music therapy care is used for different reasons for consultation, which demands different requirements from each professional. Access to training that provides this knowledge is not always possible, especially from Latin America. This article aims to review the background and proposals and reflect on music therapy training to carry out neurorehabilitation practices.
