This article studies the discursive hegemonic strategies used to represent the “Conquest of the Desert” and the attempt to exterminate and relocate the aboriginals from Patagonia in the second half of the nineteenth century in Argentina. At the same time, it opposes the colle'ive memories of the aboriginals to the aforementioned hegemonic representations. Finally, it discusses the possible use of the notion of genocide to these events.
