Conglomerados extranjeros en el sector automotriz argentino: estrategias empresariales y dinámicas productivas (1990-2002)

Abstract

Durante el periodo 1990-2001 se desarrolló en Argentina un patrón de acumulación basado en la valorización financiera y se estableció el MERCOSUR como bloque comercial regional. Contemplando lo an-terior, el trabajo propone analizar las características del sector automotriz argentino durante dicho periodo, el papel que adquirieron los principales conglomerados extranjeros automotrices y las estrategias que implemen-taron. Con tales objetivos, el artículo se divide en cuatro partes. Primero será caracterizado el régimen de acu-mulación neoliberal y presentado el contexto económico del periodo a partir de datos estadísticos con inciden-cia en la industria automotriz nacional. Luego se analizará la evolución del sector buscando captar la dinámica sectorial y el nivel de participación o peso de sus actores más relevantes e influyentes. Finalmente, se analizará la dinámica productiva, el tipo de integración y las estrategias implementadas por los principales conglomerados automotrices. Por último, se presentan una serie de conclusiones.During the period 1990-2001, an accumulation pattern based on financial valuation developed in Argentina and MERCOSUR was established as a regional trade bloc. Considering the above, the work proposes to analyze the characteristics of the Argentine automotive sector during that period, the role that the main foreign automotive conglomerates acquired and the strategies they implemented. With these objectives, the article is divided into four parts. First, the neoliberal accumulation regime will be characterized and the economic context of the period will be presented based on statistical data relevant to the national automotive industry. Then the evolution of the sector will be analyzed seeking to capture the sectoral dynamics and the level of participation or influence of its most relevant and influential actors. Finally, the productive dynamics, the type of integration and the strategies implemented by the main automotive conglomerates will be analyzed. Finally, a series of conclusions are presented.
