The story of Protected Areas in Argentina begins in 1903 with the creation of the first National Park. However, the efficient management of over thirty parks established since then has been a recurrent theme in the government's agenda. Nevertheless, during this decade, several publications have shown that the state of management and management effectiveness remains an open mind. This paper proposed an analysis of the current state of public use planning and its degree of application in marine and coastal protected areas of Argentina. Later, it took as a case study PN Campos del Tuyú, because of its recent establishment as an indicator of the impact that policies have driven in recent years. To do this, it turned to a critical analysis of the literature inherent in the subject, supplemented by surveys and field studies in the Protected Area. The results obtained are identified as major weaknesses the low percentage of protected areas with plans for public use; the lack of integration of these activities with the management plans; and the poor implementation of such plans. In turn, lack of clarity is seen in the definition of the role that public use activities should have and identify weaknesses in the legal and institutional environment, which hinder the development of the same.
