Patients with Alzheimer’s disease are usually unable to have efficient linguistic interactions, given that their language is compromised. Conversational repairs are the efforts that the patient and his interlocutor make to solve the communication problems. According to Halliday, many conversational repairs redirect the topic from the core reference to the interpersonal reference. This paper compares and analyzes the cohesive and interpersonal mentions of an Alzheimer’s patient and a healthy control matched in gender, and educational level. Ten animate and inanimate semantic category definitions were obtained with each participant. Five definitions belonged to the basic level, and five to their corresponding super ordinate level of the category. This paper compares the frequencies and the dynamic of the referential mentions with the frequency and dynamics of the interpersonal mentions because these are not likely to appear in this kind of task. The presence of this items, support Silva who explains that an externalization of the monitoring function takes place in the deterioration process of cognitive-linguistic functions..
