For some authors, the new critical theories are successors of the so-called “crisis of Marxism”. But what is this crisis? At the moment of making precisions it emphasizes that it was a strong discussion between the Marxists of the time to determinate the status of Marxism and the political strategy to follow in a frame of theoretical and political attacks to Marxism. In this article, I will explore two opposing positions of crisis: Perry Anderson´s conference in 1980 and Louis Althusser at the Colloquium of Venice in 1977. However, both authors have in common the evidence that Marxism is not a dogma, but the perspective that allows us to make a radical and permanent critique of reality, with what we can make of this artificial debate, a productive discussion that allows us to continue thinking about the state of situation of Marxism.
