The article analyzes the use of the voice as a central procedure in the cinematic narrative structure of two contemporary Argentine movies dealing with relevant historical events: the 1995 explosion of a military factory in the city of Río Tercero, Córdoba (Argentina), and the place given to gay activists within the framework of armed organizations during the 1970s in the same place. In both cases, the storytelling is articulated by the female voiceovers of those who experienced firsthand the narrated events. These are films of a very personal nature; it is from this perspective that they address events that have left their mark on the Argentine socio-political scene of the last decades. Thus, voice becomes a central element in shaping the representations that make up the stories, revealing its potential for the construction of historical discourse.
