The purpose of this paper is to analyze the situations of informality and labor precariousness in the labor market of Santiago del Estero, based on the approach of four sectors of informal workers. The methodological strategy is composed of quantitative and qualitative techniques for the analysis. In the first case, information available in the microdata base of the INDEC’s Permanent Household Survey is used. In the second, we seek to investigate the experiences of workers from different sectors of activity such as domestic service, work cooperatives, popular economy fair vendors and workers in the tourism sector in Las Termas de Río Hondo. Therefore, the particularity of this work is that it brings together studies of groups and different sectors of workers, in which informality and labor precariousness emerge as a cross-cutting category that makes the approach possible. In this sense, the insertion and/or permanence in domestic service by women workers from the different sectors in question also corresponds to the transversality that we are trying to recover. The results presented here seek to describe similar realities in a highly unequal labor market between men and women, between formal and informal workers, and the ways in which these inequalities are manifested in our province.
