Senderos de una historia social, cultural y política de la muerte

Abstract

El artículo se basa en una selección parcial y personal de estudios sobre la muerte realizados por historiadores. Comienza con la constitución de un campo de estudios que se inicio como una historia social de la muerte focalizando en las obras de Michel Vovelle y Philippe Ariés. Muestra el impacto y apropiación dispar que ambos autores tuvieron entre los historiadores y esboza, al mismo tiempo, algunas razones que podrían explicar este derrotero. Luego menciona algunos trabajos claves para pensar una historia social, cultural y política de la muerte en las sociedades contemporáneas.The paper is based on a partial and personal selection of studies on the death realized by historians. It begins with the constitution of a field of studies that initiates as a social history of the death focusing in Michel Vovelle’s and Philippe Ariés’ works. It shows the impact and unlikely appropriation that both authors had between the historians and outlines, at the same time, some reasons that might explain this course. Then the paper mentions some key works to think about social, cultural and political history of the death in the contemporary societies
