This article narrates and studies the housing strategies deployed by three women in the framework of a relocation process in the northwest of the city of Santa Fe, Argentina, analyzing how these strategies are developed in relation to the implementation of housing policy in general and the domain regularization processes in particular. Using a qualitative-quantitative methodology, which includes techniques and tools from social anthropology, three moments are studied: the stage prior to relocation, related to self-built homes; the relocation stage, implemented by state agencies within the framework of housing programs; and the stage after relocation, referring to the residence in the new homes and the appropriations made by the families. It is reflected that, despite the detachments and ruptures induced by displacement, over time these families manage to establish appropriations with the new homes, making housing improvements even without the final deed of the home.
