Based on the work of feminist activists and scholars, and drawing on the methodological perspective of collaborative ethnography, this article analyzes two emblematic cases from the past decade involving reports of obstetric violence in Argentina. Specifically, the paper aims to describe the state institutions involved, their actions involved, and the obstacles to access to justice faced by cis women who reported this form of gender-based violence. On the other hand, it explores the innovative alliances and community strategies that—in the face of these obstacles—the complainants developed alongside feminist activists. One of the cases concerns the legal proceedings of a woman from the City of Buenos Aires regarding the events she endured during her childbirth care in 2018 at a private maternity hospital. The other case concerns to the first collective complaint of obstetric violence filed that same year by seven women against a hospital in the Province of Buenos Aires. One of the main arguments put forward is that the obstacles to reporting were experienced as revictimization by some of them. In turn, the article concludes by highlighting collaborative feminist writing as one possible path to healing (among others) for those who have endured such violence.
