Arturo, terreno de prueba: acerca del origen conjunto del invencionismo y del arte concreto en Argentina

Abstract

A menudo se señala la revista Arturo (Buenos Aires, 1944) como el hito de inicio del arte concreto en Argentina; sin embargo, al recorrer sus páginas se advierte la presencia igualmente importante de poesía y de una incipiente teoría invencionista. Este estudio explora ese origen conjunto; para eso se enfoca en las resoluciones compartidas por ambas disciplinas, en su propuesta innovadora, sus vacilaciones y tensiones. Además, reflexiona sobre el vínculo de experimentación entre poesía y artes plásticas, al tiempo que revisa ciertas operaciones de la vanguardia de mitad de siglo XX como la conformación de una tradición de orden también vanguardista y la propugnación de un arte y una poesía puros.Arturo Magazine is often highlighted as the start milestone of concrete art in Argentina. However, while scanning its pages, it is possible to notice the equally important presence of poetry, and an incipient Inventionist theory. This paper studies that common origin, by focusing on shared solutions, its innovative proposal, its vacillations, and tensions. Moreover it reflects about the experimentation bound between poetry and art, as well as it look through some mid-20th century avant-garde operations, such as the setting up of an own avantgarde tradition, and the proposition of a pure art and poetry.
