This study outlines methodological guidelines for investigating video game-based interventions in patients with acquired brain injury (ABI). The primary objective is to establish a framework that supports the implementation of such interventions in both research and clinical practice. The potential of video game platforms in neuropsychological rehabilitation is examined, with an emphasis on their capacity to enhance cognitive and functional recovery. A comprehensive analysis underscores the importance of employing robust experimental designs and integrating traditional neuropsychological assessment tools with innovative digital metrics to improve the accuracy and efficacy of interventions. Furthermore, the study addresses critical ethical considerations, including accessibility, safety, and privacy, which are essential when deploying these technologies in clinical settings. The personalization of therapies through emerging technologies, such as virtual reality and artificial intelligence, is highlighted as a means to tailor interventions to individual patient needs and enhance ecological validity. The inclusion of longitudinal study designs is recommended to assess the sustainability of therapeutic effects and their generalization to activities of daily living. The proposed guidelines aim to provide a structured methodological approach for developing precise, replicable, and effective interventions, thereby advancing the field of neuropsychological rehabilitation and fostering further research in this area.
