When Kirchner assumed as president, there was no indication that the media could become a point of contention in national politics. However, few months after the Coalition for Democratic Broadcasting was formed, and five years later the unthinkable happened: the subject was on everyone's lips and the media law had become for kirchnerismo as "the mother of all battles". In this paper, we analyze how the interaction between the actions of civil society and government enabled new legislation regulating media system but also the deployment of an unprecedented political and cultural process of questioning over media involving these media and their audiences as key players in the dispute.
